Rex M. Fiedler

Obituaries

MAY 14, 1949 - MAY 04, 2024

Topeka, KS - Rex M. Fiedler, 74, was surrounded by his family as he fell into a peaceful
sleep and was handed over to the hand of God on May 4, 2024.

Rex (affectionately known as Pops by his daughter-in-law Sabrina) will be forever remembered as a
loving and supportive son, brother, husband, uncle, father, grandfather, and friend. A devout Christian
with a strong faith in God, Rex remained true to his faith and guided those around him to remain strong in
theirs.

After more than 30 years in sales and management, Rex moved from Manhattan, KS to become a
business owner in Paxico, KS with his wife, Kay. Later, a series of health issues required them to move to
Topeka, KS where Rex could receive ongoing medical care. Highlights of forced retirement were
attending family events-especially those involving his grandsons-and having coffee with the Thursday
coffee group.

In addition to his career and business achievements, Rex was an avid collector including guns, knives,
antiques, and an avid animal lover. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family who will never
forget his enduring sense of humor, and was always armed with a new joke or two.

Rex was preceded in death by his parents, Merlin and Aileene Fiedler; in-laws Glenn and Beulah
Collinge; brothers-in-law Barry Huitema, Sr. and John L. Gregg II; and sister-in-law Nicci Fiedler.
Rex is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kay; son, Derek; daughter-in-law, Sabrina; grandsons, Grant and
Nathan; granddaughter-in-law, Kennedy; brother, Terry; sister Erna Huitema; sister-in-law, Judy Gregg;
nieces Jill Gregg; Erika Hartley and her husband, Brian; nephews John L. Gregg III and his wife Deanna;
Barry Huitema, Jr. and his wife Lauri; and his beloved (most of the time) cat, Tobi.

We are saddened you are no longer with us in body, but happy you are still with us in spirit. We’ll see
you again soon Pops!
