Boarding starts 30 minutes before departure, and security is fast and efficient (all the latest machinery), so with hand-luggage you're fairly safe with 40-45 minutes.
While arriving one hour before departure might be sufficient in many cases, it's always a good idea to allow a bit of extra time, especially if you're unfamiliar with the airport or if you're traveling during peak hours. If in doubt, check with the airline for their specific guidelines and recommendations.
So, while arriving two hours early is good enough for your domestic flights, it is advisable to arrive at least three to four hours before your international flight.
For example, measurements of kidney, liver, and thyroid function, as well as blood counts, are not influenced by fasting. However, fasting is often recommended before tests for glucose (blood sugar) and triglycerides (part of the cholesterol, or lipid, panel) to provide the most useful results.
The kidney function test includes approximately 11 tests to assess the complete functioning of the kidney. Tests include blood urea, Blood Urea Nitrogen (Bun), Calcium, Creatinine, Phosphorous, Sodium, Uric Acid, BUN/Creatinine Ratio, Chloride, Potassium, Urea/Creatinine Ratio, and Potassium.
It is the fifth-busiest airport by passengers and aircraft movements serving the London area — after Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton — and was the 14th-busiest in the UK in 2017.
For domestic flights, you should be at the airport for a minimum of 45 minutes before your flight, although it's much safer to be there 90 minutes to two hours before departure.
If you're coming from an international flight, it is recommended to schedule your pick up an hour or 1.5 hours after landing to give enough time for getting through customs.
